Track Your Luggage

lost baggage

We are doing quite a lot of traveling these days. luckily, we have not lost any luggage but I was thinking about the best way to protect our cases in the future. Below, is my solution. I hear you thinking, “how do I track my luggage?”

The saviour is the tracker, a small device that you can put in your case, and if lost, you can pinpoint its location. Imagine being at your destination airport, and your cases have not turned up at the carousel. You go to the person at the helpdesk, who informs you that the bags must still be in the UK. However, you turn your mobile tracker app on, showing that your bags are close! So, when the computer says “Non!” you can show them your mobile phone and prove it is in the airport you are standing in. Then make them look for your case, you can even give them the exact location with your phone.

How to Use a Tracker

You can purchase your tracker on Amazon. Below are my recommendations for Apple’s AirTag. There are many similar devices for Android, which I will add to this post when I have tested them. Any instrument is only as good as the app it needs to work. Therefore, I prefer to use Apple, as they aren’t going anywhere soon.

Apple AirTag

Buy the tag, and download the FindMy app on your mobile. When you have the app, put the AirTag near your phone (have Bluetooth enabled), and the app will walk you through the rest. It will ask you to name your tag, we used “AndysBag” and “LynnesBigBag”, as they are different types of suitcases and we could describe them if needed to help people to find them. You register the tags to your Apple ID, and you are all set.

I would suggest putting the tag in the case rather than connecting it on the outside.
